The Brosnan Forest Mitigation Bank (BFMB), located on Brosnan Forest in Dorchester County, South Carolina, is approximately 290 acres of historic wetland converted to loblolly plantation and now being restored to pocosin. BFMB has been authorized by the US Army Corp of Engineers as a commercial wetland mitigation bank. The purpose of the bank is to provide compensatory mitigation for unavoidable adverse impacts to wetlands from authorized activities under Section 404 of The Clean Water Act.  BFMB will provide 792.8 freshwater palustrine enhancement/restoration credits for the authorized service area.
